olio 9 wrapup

Thanks to everyone who helped make Olio 9 a reality – especially Maggie, Sarah and the PCA crew, the CCDC, Matt Pamer, Wes Webb, James Ford, the 10 organizations who presented, and everyone who came out to watch the magic happen (despite gremlins galore) – I look forward to seeing everyone at the next edition!

Olio & PCA presents: Olio 9 – Arts Organization Edition

The Piedmont Council of the Arts (PCA) and Olio will join together in a unique partnership for the 9th edition of Olio Night.

This joint event features short presentations by 10 area arts organizations, providing a special platform for each to share their mission and programs. This forum is meant to enable community members to make connections and access a network of arts resources.

The ten organizations include: Ash Lawn Opera, The Bridge PAI, Heritage Theatre Festival, Light House, Live Arts, Music Resource Center, Performers Exchange Project, Second Street Gallery, UVA Art Museum, & WriterHouse.

The event will be held on Friday September 24th from 8-10pm at the CCDC Cityspace, 100 5th Street NE on the downtown mall. An after party will also be held at a location on the mall.
For information on the PCA and its mission, visit charlottesvillearts.org.

The first video is the presentation made by Dan Zimmerman at the first Olio. The video was great but I was suffering from Murphy’s Law and didn’t get the sound working… Here it is in its full glory:

The next video was ‘beamed-in’ from Berlin (right!) at the 4th Edition. This is Bill Atwood’s presentation and congratulations to the CCDC on it’s 5 year anniversary:

Thanks to Dan Z, Bill Atwood, Mandy Burbage, & Ashley Cooper for these two!

Olio 6, one year anniversary

A little more than a year ago I suggested the idea for Olio to my wife over dinner. She responded with loads of support and a small dose of realism; “Perhaps you could start small and hold it in our living room.” Neither of us imagined the hundred plus crowd that arrived at the first event last February… With that in mind I would like to announce the 6th Edition of Olio!

olio videos for all

I recently discovered that several Olio presentations have been filmed and uploaded to YouTube. I’ll do my bit and get them out to the people:

Nod to Billy Hunt & Marc O’Brien for the YouTube posts.

The fourth edition of Olio will be held during the CCDC’s 5-Year Anniversary festivities. Doors open at 7pm for drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and socializing. Olio starts at 8pm. From 10pm-2am, DJ Western Front will be laying it down for the ‘Dance Like You Give A Damn’ party. The door charge for the dance party is $10, which benefits the CCDC.
